TOKYO, April 15 -- Tokyo stocks fell Friday with the key Nikkei index down 0.65 percent.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 Average lost 62.40 points from Thursday to 9,591.52. The broader Topix index was down 5.43 points, or 0.64 percent, to 841.29.
The decline was led by the securities sector, which was followed by the metal products and air transport sectors. The pulp and paper, fishery and forestry, land transport and nonferrous metals sectors were the winners.
Trading volume on the main section contracted to 2,093 million shares from 2,215 million Thursday. The turnover was 1,264.5 billion yen (about 15.2 billion U.S. dollars). |
